How to Seduce with Style - The Definite Guide to Purchasing your next Suit

What clothes do women find the most sexy on men?

This question has been asked a lot out there in several communities online. You may even have been asking yourself exactly the same, as you most like are (or have been) interested in what attracts the attention of the opposite sex towards your picturesque self.
The answer to this question is that it really depends. There really is no magic formula that makes you look sexier or more appealing towards the ladies. Sadly so. Every woman is and thinks different about this, and that’s good. Everything else would also be boring, wouldn’t it?
There are however some pointers from women about men’s style that can be summed up; some that may help you get a head-start in terms of attractiveness. You may even be surprised about how simple some of these are. Here are 5 styles summed up for you.

Number 1: Men’s Boots

Why do women love them: Even the smartest pair of boots suggest a somewhat rugged practicality. They tend to you more height and the chunkiness of them makes you look more masculine.

No matter the type of boot, make sure to match your leathers with each other. The color of your belt, boots, watch strap or any other leather for that matter, should match to any other leather you’re wearing. Don’t fall for the temptation to mix them. Boots come in manyfold options, from formal to casual. Here are just a few of them together with a small guide on each of them.

CASUAL BOOTS

Hiking boots: the most casual and durable boots of all types of boots, perfectly suitable for outdoor pursuits only. Most can’t be described as sexy, but leather ones are your best bet for a touch of style.

Work boots: The more classic and comfortable blue-collar workman’s leather boot with laces to own out there. The work boots pair well together with rugged jeans, a work belt, a T-shirt, a work shirt, or a chunky sweater.

Western boots: To others, this pair of boots may also be known as cowboy boots.  The no.1 accessory that you may need together with these is confidence – there’s nothing cowboy’ish about looking awkward! Pair them with jeans and a simple button-down shirt and make them the focus of your outfit.

DRESS BOOTS

Chukka’s:
Chukka’s are the least formal of the dress boots out there, often crafted with suede. They have Derby lacing, 2-3 eyelets, and usually leather soles. Dress them up with a sports coat and slacks, or dress them down with a T-shirt and a nice pair of jeans. Desert boots are a less formal version with rubber soles.

Chelsea’s:
Laceless pull-on boots with elastic sides, usually sleek and smooth with no toe cap. They almost work with anything from jeans to a full suit. Choose black color for more formal wear and opt for brown or oxblood for the more casual style.

Lace-up’s:
Lace up’s are pretty much an ankle-high version of Oxford’s and Derby’s, and similarly formal – you can easily wear them with a suit. Oxford boots are the most formal, with closed lacing – the vamp (front part of the shoe) is sewn on top of the quarters (back part) giving a clean and sleek look. Derby boots are slightly less formal, with open lacing (quarters on top of the vamp).

When going out buying dress boots, remember that those with ‘boot-like’ rubber soles are less formal compared to the ‘shoe-like’ leather soles. Even though they’re less formal, you could also choose to take them out for a light hike!

Number 2: A fitted cashmere sweater

Why do women love them: The Cashmere material drapes well on your body, and is extremely tactile. It looks great, but it also makes women want to touch you.

For the Cashmere look, expect to spend quite some money, as a sweater (or other fashion items) made out of cashmere is rather expensive. However, Cashmere clothing items are built to last, so you’ll definitely get your money worth of cashmere, as long as you take care of it.

Choosing and caring for a cashmere sweater:
  • Choose a reputable merchant – counterfeit sweaters (or any other clothing item for that matter) won’t last. Copied cashmere sweaters have been found containing rat fur – something that you probably won’t want to wear. Personally, we think rat is a little bit less sexy. How about you?
  • Get it adjusted – While a cashmere sweater can cost a little more than a shirt, and may require a Tailor with a specialised set of skills (like us), the rule is the same as with dress shirts – Fit is king!
The sweater will only look great if the fit is on point!
  • For increased versatility, make sure to choose a solid color from the neutral palette. The most versatile type of colors to choose from out there are green, blue, brown, gray, and white. These neutrals will pair just perfectly with nearly everything that you own already.
  • De-pill often. Cashmere, especially when new, can tend to form little “fuzzballs” in high-friction areas such as under the arms. Use a razor blade or lint tape to remove them and you’ll be all set.
  • Don’t wash the sweater every time you wear it. You can extend the wearability by wearing a shirt underneath – think polo-shirt, or undershirt – depending on the style.
  • Hand wash the sweater with a mild detergent. Cashmere tends to shrink in hot water, so use cold water, unless you want to end up gifting it to your dog. They’d probably prefer rat.

Number 3: Leather Jacket

Why do women love them: Simple. The timeless James Dean bad boy appeal it gives you. Leather is tough. It’s animal-like. It’s skin. It’s wild! On a primal level, it says ‘there comes the mighty hunter’.

Also here, make sure to match your leathers. Black is more movie star- or rock star-like, brown is more Indiana Jones.

A good leather jacket is one that is well fitted to your body (not tight or boxy) with high armholes. A really good type of leather jacket is one that is made of full grain leather, and will set you back a pretty penny, or so, but just like with the cashmere sweater, it’s worth it because it’s so extremely durable, and will last you for years and years.

Short is stylish. In general, your belt should be visible when you zip your jacket up.

This goes especially if you happen to be short. A short jacket will give you longer legs. Thin men will look good in a jacket that cinches around the waist, and gives you that ‘v’ shape, while bigger type of guys should do everything to avoid the wrap-around look and go for a straight cut.

If you are out to achieve the original bad boy type of outfit, pair with well-fitted jeans and a plain white T-shirt to complete the James Dean look. Opt for ‘athletic fit’ in your shirts – v-necks are really popular with the ladies too.

Number 4: A well-fitted suit or uniform

Why do women love them: You tend to look smart, capable, and powerful. Also here, Fit is king.

The difference between a man who has his military uniform custom-tailored and one who doesn’t is huge, even on the parade field. By getting your uniform fitted to your body, you take something good and make it nothing less than excellent.

As far as suits go, always remember the name of your Tailor (preferably that’s us).

When you try on a custom-tailored suit, look for a good fit in your “natural stance” – standing up straight, preferably in the kind of dress shoes that you’ll be wearing with your suits, with your arms relaxed at your side.

The basics of suit fit:
  • The shoulders should lie flat
  • Make sure to have no ‘dreaded x’ shaped creases in the front of the jacket (too tight) or lapels hanging forward (too loose)
  • The neck should hit the back of the shirt collar but don’t bunch up
  • The sleeves shouldn’t twist
  • The sleeves should end just above the wrist bone/leave half an inch of cuff
  • The jacket should come down to the middle of your hand in a natural stance
  • The pants should drape smoothly – no pulling tight or sagging
  • There should be a small trouser break

Number 5: CONFIDENCE

Why do women love them: Why is this mentioned in this article about clothing? Well, easy – because women do focus on that – over and over again. In any discussion of what looks sexy on men, you can almost be guaranteed that someone will mention confidence at some point.

While nobody likes arrogance, if your demeanour says, ‘I’m unimportant and uninteresting,’ women are likely to agree and leave you alone – even if you’re actually a great guy.
Confidence says, ‘I’m worth knowing.’ It signals that you’d make a strong, capable partner and father – and makes her wonder what you’ve got to be so confident about.

One of the best confidence boosts is dressing well!

Others include (but are not limited to):

Power posing. Did you know that standing like Superman for 2 minutes boosts interview performance? And no, you don’t stand like Superman IN the interview – only before, when nobody is looking. Use this trick to boost confidence in all kinds of situations.

Visualisation. Picture yourself moving through life as a confident man. If a situation scares you, visualise yourself sailing through it with all the confidence you want to have.

Improve posture. Science shows that when we stand taller, we feel better about ourselves. For a cheap and easy hack, try running a length of duct tape on your spine – if you slouch, the pull on the tape will remind you to straighten up!

Wear a signature cologne. Just as smelling bad makes you feel bad about yourself, smelling good makes you feel good about yourself. And having the same scent every day (that’s NOT armpit funk) gives a sense of stability and reminds you that the space around you is YOURS.
